Ceramic Sand is a kind of product of ceramic particles, using high quality bauxite and coal as its main raw materials. It is the substitute of middle and low strength proppant, which includes natural quartz sand, glass marble, metallic ball etc. High in crushing strength, ceramic sand is mainly used as the prop in the low-permeability petroleum or gas well exploitation to increase the output of petroleum or gas. So it has another name, that is, petroleum compression fracture proppant.

In the process of exploiting deep petroleum well, we have the mineral deposit of high closing pressure and low-permeability processed to make the petroleum formation crack, with the petroleum flowing from the cracking channels to a collection. We use propping materials to fill in the formation cracks to avoid the close of it with the stress releasing; as a result, the output of petroleum will increase because of the high flow conductivity of ceramic sand. It is proved that by using ceramic sand in the exploitation of petroleum well; we can increase the output by 30-50% and prolong the service life of petroleum well.
